The officers will present a recap of 2019 including our successful BCOP Scholarship Fundraiser in the Fall as well as updating Members on plans for our Centenary Anniversary in 2022. The membership will vote on the proposed slate of Officers: President, Howard Trauger; Vice President, Nigel Storer; Vice President, Dianne Manges, CFA; Treasurer, Tom Aichele; Secretary, Matt DePont. The following Board of Governors will be received in: Stephen Comes, John Derderian, James Dunigan, Joseph Evancich, Denise Gargan, Don Grant, Jerry Gravel, and Jim King. Outgoing Board members are Warren West and Steve Winterstein.
We look forward to welcoming James Nevels to be our keynote speaker on the topic of “40 Years – The Importance of Cultivating Relationships.” Jim founded The Swarthmore Group in 1991, serves as its Chairman, and has more than forty years of experience in the securities and investment industry. Jim will share with us how the asset management industry has changed as well as his outlook for its future. In addition to his “day job,” Jim serves on the Board of Directors of three public companies including First Data, Alcoa Corporation, and as Lead Independent Director of WestRock. He was appointed by President Bush to the Advisory Committee to the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation and served a three year term, 2004-2007, included that of Chairman from 2005-2007. He also served as Chairman (2009-2015) and Lead Independent Director (2015-2017) of The Hershey Company. Jim is a member of the Board of the Hershey Trust Company and Milton Hershey School, Chair and member of the Board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, member of the Board of XL Group, member of the Board of the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation, member of the Board of MMG Insurance Company and member of the Board of Tasty Baking Company. He is an honors (cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa) graduate of Bucknell University, and holds an A.B. degree in Political Science and Philosophy, a M.B.A. degree from The Wharton School, the University of Pennsylvania, and a J.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. We are thrilled for the opportunity to sit with Jim Nevels to hear from his broad-reaching perspective.
